Malawi -Here I come!

USAID announced Friday, February 19 that John Collins will be assigned to Malawi as Education Officer for the country.
Both Meagan and John are happy and look forward to making their home in Malawi. They do not know exactly when that will be but at least they know where they are going. We look forward to hearing from them on their new venture.
Since Stuart and Jane were in DC with Svetlana, Arfang, Cristina, Chris and Lydia for meetings, we were able to meet up with John and his family to celebrate. We all had a great day with successful visits that hopefully will finalize some professional affiliation paperwork. Stuart's friend, Jess came to meet with us for dinner. Jess is currently a counselor at the Arlington High School. This is a nice connection for future Humphries. After a long day, we arrived back in Happy Valley early Saturday morning....thanks Svetlana and Cristina for keeping Jane awake after Stuart was dropped off!

Pa College of Technology

Christine, Buthaina, Gabriela, Chris, Edward, Ulugbek and Valery joined Jane and Stuart on a site visit hosted by Carolyn Strickland and Tom Gregory of Academic Affairs. During the visit, fellows met with all the Dean and Assistant Deans for a round table discussion about their areas of interests. The highlight of the day was Le Jeun Chef where we were greeted by a wait staff of alumni who treated each to a wonderful lunch prepared by the College's Restaurant Management students - the chocolate soup had raving reviews. A campus tour to the Madigan Library and labs shown in slide show. The staff was proud to tell the fellows that Penn College is among 39 institutions receiving Honor Roll recognition in the The Chronicle of Higher Education's survey of "Great Colleges to Work For." The fellows are still a bit confused about the PENN STATE name and how they are connected to this fine institution.
